Cloudy with a Chance of Flooding

The area where I live is usually gets average weather. We never have any days in the summer that are extremely hot, and our winter days never dip below the freezing point. Our rain is also pretty normal. That is, it was pretty normal, until one day a month ago, a really bad rain storm happened, which caused a really bad flood. My home is located at the bottom of a hill, so it got the worst of the damage from the flood. Since the weather is usually normal, I didn't think I would need flood insurance, but I was caught off guard this time.

My normal home insurance didn't cover the flood damage, which left me at a big disadvantage. I had to pay for the cost of repairs out of my own pocket, and the bill was no joke. I had some money saved for a rainy day, and coincidentally, I actually had to use it because of a rainy day. The repairs depleted most of my savings, leaving me to start all over again. After that incident, I decided that I wouldn't be caught off guard again, and started looking for flood insurance.

I found a plan that would cover my home on the Internet. I don't know when any severe rainstorms will be coming back to my area, but if they do, I will be prepared. Maybe I can put out some sand bags to prevent the water from rushing into my home. The flood has left me a little bit paranoid, because I'm afraid that something else may come and destroy my home, like an earthquake. There isn't a history of earthquakes being in this area, so I don't think I'll need that insurance, but just to be on the safe side, I'll look for a provider anyway.

Corpurs Christi Prices for Electricity and Utilities

I am currently going to Texas A&M university and I am going to find a new apartment, one that is not on campus, to live on next semester. I just don't like living in the dorms, because it really cramps my style, and there are some other reasons why I don't like it as well. It is kind of stifling in my opinion. But anyway, I have an idea to look up http://www.texasenergycompanies.net/reliant-energy-texas/c/corpus-christi.html and try to find the electricity prices that I am going to have to pay from the cheapest company in the area.

I am trying to tabulate my expenses, and I should be able to fairly roughly estimate how much power my apartment is going to use on a monthly basis by knowing the energy consumption of all of the appliances, as well as how frequent I will be using them. Of course, some things will be out of my hands,in that I will probably be forced to run the heat more if it is really cold outside, and there are other considerations like that which will make my estimate more rough.

But regardless, any estimate is going to serve to help me to do a better job at helping me to calculate how much I am going to spend on my expenses. I am going to try to eat as cheap as I can to cut down on my costs of living. I am going to eat a lot of rice and beans. I have a crock pot, and I am going to use it to cook dried beans. I am going to start with some pinto beans, because I have been craving them for awhile. I want to make a whole mess of collard greens, some pinto beans, and some fried porkchops. That sure sounds good.

We Got Us a Little House Today

Jack and I are going to have our hands full fixing this place up. Of course I might not see much of my girlfriend until I get it ready. She saw it the other day before we got started and told me not to invite her over there until it was ready. It did come with a new satellite dish out in the yard, it was hidden under a fake rock and we did not realize it was there at first. We saw the cable while we were messing with something. I went to http://www.cable-tv.com/regional-providers/ and found the rough price of a package. The least expensive direct tv package is around 20 bucks a month. That gets something like 130 channels and it is an introductory offer. So you need to look at the fine print and see what sort of deal you are really getting. We sort of had this plan to talk a friend of ours into doing something.

The thing is that you can use up to four receivers in one house, maybe more I am not sure. They just talk about the HD DVR being good for four rooms. At any rate it only costs a couple of dollars more for an extra receiver. We know this guy who lives alone and has a direct tv package. We think he must have one of the mid range deals from looking at it. At any rate he would not have to pay much more to get another receiver, he could tell them he was putting it in his bedroom or whatever. We were thinking that maybe we talk him in to a three way split on the super big package that they have. That is less than 90 dollars for 12 months, but obviously it goes up after that.
